The Corn Palace

I came across this place during my travels through the Great Plains states last summer — the Corn Palace!

“Okay, I’ll stop and see it,” I said to myself. “This is going to be corny.”

Lo and behold! It was corny and absolutely a-maize-ing!! 🤩

I was impressed! Every year artists cover the entire building with murals made from corn. The creativity and artistry is truly amazing.

This building is a large multi-purpose arena that serves as a venue for concerts, sports events, exhibits and other community events. It’s the home of the Dakota Wesleyan University Tigers and the Mitchell High School Kernels basketball teams.

2nd image. That’s Cornelius, the Corn Palace mascot. 😂

According to Wikipedia, “The Moorish Revival building is decorated with crop art; the murals and designs covering the building are made from corn and other grains, and a new design is constructed each year.”

Take a look at the venue’s website https://cornpalace.com/ and more good info on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corn_Palace
